The Use of Coram Deo’s Teaching in Life and Ministry
Sergey Neagov
I’m already putting into practice the things I’ve learned. This last module was trying to get the
students to think about the importance of properly applying Scripture in counseling. There will
always be grave consequences from incorrectly and falsely applying Scripture. The foundation of
Christian counseling is delivering the truth and serving people with the Word. I know that it’s
possible to wound with God’s word, thus it must be applied properly.
One should never counsel anyone and talk to them for the sake of simply talking. How one cares
for the heart must vary depending on the person they’re counseling; being broad is incorrect.
Christ ministered to people not broadly but specifically. There were various situations and He met
people in their specific needs. Without understanding the root of the problem, one will never
become an effective counselor. Nor will one be able to bring good to a soul without Christ. It’s
important to always learn from Christ; He is the focus in counseling.
Also in this module we learned about the most important moment in counseling—walking before
God. The heart of a person is like soil which needs to be seasonally worked on and in the right
order. A farmer’s final product is bread so it is very important not to confuse the order of the
necessary work. So is the work with a person’s heart, it’s a process where the end result should
be an independent walk before God.
I know that significant changes happen through the process of counseling. This is why I believe,
hope, and expect that God will radically change those who are counseled!

The Scripture memory text
21 But this I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
23 they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore I will hope in him.”25 The Lord is good to those who wait for him,
Lamentations 3:21-26
to the soul who seeks him.
26 It is good that one should wait quietly
for the salvation of the Lord.
