A Need in Spain

Viktor Kovba

Our community in Torreviejo, Spain has grown quite a bit this past year in 2023. We’re quite amazed with our God at the number of young people and young families that have joined our Sunday meetings! Praise God for everything!

Social media and personal communication have become an important tool for us to do evangelism in our church. Our evangelism is a continuous and living dialogue with people.

So that more people would learn about Christ and our church we host various events. The youth goes out once a month to the waterfront where they sing and give out invitations to the church. We also have good evangelism through winter and summer kids’ camps, a teenager club on Saturdays, a language club, and other various events. We also must show Christ to the people around us with our lives.

December 8, 2023 in Spain was a holiday on which we held a small event at our church to worship God and rejoice with future parents. We also invited some unbelievers. Two young women, Solomiya and Anna, prayed at the end of the service a prayer of repentance and have already been attending our Sunday services for two weeks. They’ve never been in a church before and that was the first time they came, even though we’ve been sharing a lot with them about Christ over the past two years. Praise the Lord for moments like these!

Other good evangelism opportunities come through picnic outings and youth retreats. Unbelieving youth and adults are invited to these events where we study the Word together, relax together, and praise the Lord together!

Spain continues to fill up with refugees from Ukraine and other countries of the former Soviet Union. Over a week ago we got a call from Ilya Danilyuk who asked us to receive an unbelieving family from Ukraine. We joyfully met them, helped them find a place to live, continue to help with documents, etc. This Sunday these young people attended our meeting. Praise the Lord!

Huge thanks for your prayers and for all the blessings!

Please pray for our urgent need in obtaining a license to be able to host our Sunday services. The enemy does not slumber. Two families who live in front of the church filed a complaint to the police that we have loud music and that too many people gather. The policy already came 3 times and warned us that if we don’t receive a license by February 15, 2024 we will be shut down. They want to evict us outside the city. We are officially registed as a Christian association and church. Without a license and insurance only 30 people can gather, and we only have insurance without a license. Please pray that we could fill out all the paperwork and find the finances for the license which costs €1900.

The Scripture memory text

1 The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above  proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words,
    whose voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun,
which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,
and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
and its circuit to the end of them,
and there is nothing hidden from its heat.

Psalm 19:1-6
