Peace to you!

Why does the pastor periodically give assignments to the kids? And he also passes out candy? Wouldn’t it be better to simply focus on the older generation and on those who have come to listen to the Word of God, rather than on those brought by their parents? These are global questions that we, the elder board, answer as such: teaching and bringing the young generation to worship God can be done not only by explanation but by a personal example. We believe that the presence of children at the service, despite its various difficulties (inability to sit still, lack of attention, bustling, and noise), has a net greater positive, children see their parents worship God. Kids are not separated from the church, but from childhood they are raised by the church family where they are loved, awaited, and ready to be accepted.

Now, assignments for the kids during the sermon serve to help them learn to be attentive listeners and to grow in their ability to analyze and extract important truths from what they hear.

And today I want to emphasize that our kids indeed listen to the Word of God attentively. They understand more than we suppose. A little further down in the letter you’ll see a few drawings of how the kids perceive what they hear. Pray that these truths would deeply penetrate their young hearts and they would bear much fruit for the kingdom of God!

The Scripture memory text – Psalm 90:9-11

For all our days pass away under your wrath; we bring our years to an end like a sigh.
10 The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty; yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away.
11 Who considers the power of your anger, and your wrath according to the fear of you?
