Sunday School Ministry

The position that GCF takes regarding Sunday school is this: Sunday School can in no way replace the Christian parenting of a child. It is instead designed to assist parents in bringing up their children while integrating them into the church. In order to accustom children to attend church service with their parents, our Sunday school is conducted only during the evening services. Morning services are designed as a time for families to worship together in the sanctuary.

Mission of the Sunday School

“Assemble the people, men, women, and little ones, and the sojourner within your towns, that they may hear and learn to fear the LORD your God, and be careful to do all the words of this law.” (Deuteronomy 31:12)

God places the responsibility of upbringing children on the parents. As mentioned above, Sunday school can in no way replace the religious education designed to be provided by the parents to the children, but it is a good helper..

Practical Implementation

  1. Participation of the parents in worship service as well as in Sunday school.
  2. Participation of the parents in seminars and parent meetings.
  3. Participation of the parents in special classes.

The purpose of the Sunday school is to lead the students to Christ. With the assistance of the teacher and through the work of Holy Spirit, the aim is to make the students spiritually awakened.

What is taught in Sunday School?
1. The content and the structure of the Bible, Biblical geography, and Bible chronology.
2. The knowledge of Christ and the importance of a personal relationship with God.
3. The rules of conduct based on the Word of God.
4. Doctrine of the Faith, what we believe and what we teach:

  • About God
  • About Jesus Christ and His incarnation, death and resurrection
  • About the Holy Spirit
  • About Salvation
  • About the Christian life
  • About the Holy Scripture
  • About the second coming of Christ
  • About sin
  • About the angels
  • About man
  • About prayer
  • About faith

What is Sunday School?

  • Sunday School is the educational department of the church. It is where the children should develop mentally, morally, and spiritually.
  • Sunday School is the place of practical training of children for ministry in the church. The Sunday School teacher, seeing the talent or gift of God in a particular student, will contribute to its development.
  • Sunday School is a place of training future Bible teachers. Sunday school teaches not only children, but adults as well.
  • Sunday school is a natural way of evangelism. Reasonable teaching of the Bible lays a solid foundation of the Christian doctrine in the Sunday school students.

A child may turn to Christ and receive salvation as soon as they are old enough to:

  • Realize that they have sinned before God and are willing to leave all sin
  • Understand and believe that Jesus Christ died for them on the cross
  • Trust Him and accept Him into their heart and life as Lord and Savior

Sunday School is the place where tomorrow's church members, preachers, ministers are raised and brought up.

School Program

Our Sunday school has been using the curriculum “GOG” (Generation of Grace) for many years. The program is God-centered and is based on the Bible. It contains lesson plans with instructions for teachers as well as keywords to facilitate the lessons. The lessons are designed for children ages three and older.
For more information about the program please visit the GOG website.

Class information

Our Sunday school currently has seven classes. If you have a child who is between 4 and 12 years of age, we would be happy to have them join the school.
For children ages 4 to 7, we have four classes which are held during the evening service in various classrooms. For children ages 8 to12, we have three classes that also meet during the evening service. First, all children sing worship songs and listen to a Bible story together, after which they go to their classrooms for discussion and another lesson.
